First introduced in 1997, this popular Masters course has expanded in scope and appeal to natural resource specialists and agriculturalists, as well as those from a social science background who work or are interested in and wish to study development issues, sustainability and the environment.   riseabovethelies.com My response to the alarming videos on youtube pertaining to acid rain in different parts of the country stemming from the BP Gulf oil environmental catastrophe was to investigate for myself. when i arrived in Austin for the first time in August 2009 everything looked dead because they had not had rain here for like a year and had just had 60 straight days of 100 degrees or more weather. EVERYTHING looked dead and brown and yellow and yuk! So it is not any surprise, even though there has been much more rain and the temperatures have been about 10 degrees cooler most days than this time last year to find some burnt leaves and such. But for the most part I saw a lot of green healthy vibrant looking plants and leaves as I strolled down the hiking trail that encircles the Deep Eddy natural springs swimming pool and Lake Austin Overall I saw what you would expect to see in normal conditions. I took pictures of things I saw which did not seem optimum. But I walked away from this first hand observation with my spirit elevated and my mind at peace.
