The transfer of technology from Ferraris Formula One department to its Gestione Industriale the road car division is a direct parallel to Shells efforts in motorsport. Formula One provides Shell with an extreme test bed on which to test its fuels and lubricants, allowing the scientists to take the learnings and incorporate them into the products for the road. Having worked with Ferrari on the development of the Formula One engines, Shell was best placed to aid the development of the 458 Italias power unit to ensure that optimum performance was achieved. This significant collaboration has once again put Ferrari ahead of its competitors and has proved that the partnership with Shell is not only about winning Formula One World Championships, but also about delivering one of the most integrated technical partnerships in the performance road car market.
